The Cranston Inquiry into the 24 November 2021 Channel crossing tragedy will hold a Preliminary Hearing in London on Thursday 24 October 2024 from 2.00pm.
At the Inquiry’s Opening Hearing on 6 March 2024, Sir Ross Cranston, Chair of the Inquiry, delivered an opening statement, outlining the work done to date and giving details of his intentions for the Inquiry.
The Preliminary Hearing on 24 October will include a report on the Inquiry’s progress to date and the plans for the next stage of its work.
The independent Inquiry is investigating the events of 24 November 2021, when at least 27 people lost their lives crossing the Channel. It is looking into who the deceased were, and when, where and in what circumstances they came by their deaths. It is also exploring what further lessons can be learned and considering recommendations for the future.
The Preliminary Hearing will be open to members of the public who wish to attend.

- The hearings are being filmed by RTS Communications static cameras. A livestream with a three-minute delay is available on our YouTube channel. No other broadcast or stills cameras will be allowed in the hearings room.
