The Cranston Inquiry has been set up to look into the events of 24 November 2021, when at least 27 people lost their lives crossing the Channel.

The Inquiry was announced on 9 November 2023 by The Rt Hon Mark Harper MP, the Secretary of State for Transport. You can read the written statement to Parliament here.

On 11 January 2024, The Rt Hon Mark Harper MP announced that the Inquiry would be chaired by Sir Ross Cranston and the terms of reference were published.
