Press release Thursday 27th March 2025
The Cranston Inquiry has concluded its public Full Hearings, today 27th March. The Full Hearings began on 3rd March and have sat for 15 days and heard evidence from 22 witnesses. The Inquiry has requested and received written statements from a further 43 witnesses and heard 27 family impact statements.
At the close of the Hearings Sir Ross Cranston said:
“I want to thank everyone who has taken part in them. I want to thank those who have given evidence, in particular Issa Mohamed Omar and also the family members who have given evidence over the last day and a half.
My team and I now have to review all the evidence that we have received, together with the other material. We, of course, have already started to analyse that but I need to produce a report. I cannot give an estimate today as to when it will be produced, however over the last 15 months my team and I have worked at pace and with commitment and we will continue to do so.”
The next phase of the Inquiry is to prepare a report and recommendations, which will be submitted to the Secretary of State for Transport.
Transcripts from the hearings, alongside statements, are published on the Inquiry’s website under ‘Publications’.
